Northern Benevolent Ball – Putting on the Ritz
27th November 2009 – Tatton Park
Once again guests had a fabulous evening at the Northern Benevolent “Puttin on the Ritz” Ball. There were understandably less attendees this year due to the economic climate but the atmosphere was so friendly. One company commented that “it was like being at an intimate private party” another that “it was the first time my other guests had been but they all had a brilliant time and said they will be back again next year” and many others on the way out at the end of the night said “ as usual a wonderful evening”.
The quality of wines, food, decor and entertainment was excellent. Our extra performers, Victor Michael and Seventh Heaven added more variety to the evening. Stuart Hall ran the Auction for us and did a superb job of extracting pennies from our guests who gave most generously. Our Top Auction Prize, provided by Aiden Byrne – Michelin starred Chef – cooking dinner for 8 in the winners home with Paul Boutinot providing exclusive wines was so popular that thanks to the generosity of Aiden and Paul it was sold to 4 different guests raising £10,000! The winner of the £1000 Stand for a Grand Prize was absolutely stunned by their good luck.
The accounts are not completely finalised but we expect the total raised to be around £20,000 which is very impressive in these times of difficulty for the trade.
The Northern Benevolent Ball Committee would like to thank all those companies who have supported the Ball this year by sponsoring, donating or attending. Hopefully those companies who have been unable to attend this year will find their circumstances improved in twelve months time and be able to join us once again.
We would like to thank all the following companies for their special support as they became “Friends of the Ball”
We are also most grateful to the following companies who provided drinks for the tables.

Concha y Toro
Frederic Robinson Limited
